Achiever Spotlight - Ayat

As our semester comes to an end, we’d like to share with you our latest Achiever spotlight. Ayat is a wonderful person and you can always find her smiling!

Q: What do you want to be when you grow up?
A: At the moment, I don't have a very clear idea of what I want to spend the rest of my life doing. However, I do know that I want to go into a type of engineering. Maybe I'll do mechanical engineering, but I would need more experience in what the field is like before I leap for it.
Q: Who is the most influential person in your life?
A: There are multiple people who have made a positive, significant mark in my life. However, the people who have created a base for these people to come into my life are my parents. They taught me to put effort in everything I do and to respect everyone I meet. My parents have been through a lot, so I want to be able to open a brighter and happier door for them to be able to be their raw selves and not have to worry about life's problems.
Q: Describe a passion.
A: I love drawing and sailing. With art I am able to materialize my emotions and ideas and bring them to life. With sailing, I am put in a situation where I have to constantly think about my next move and where the wind is pointing which is a little nerve wracking but it's fun.

Achiever Spotlight - Avanthi

We are happy to announce that we are starting a new weekly series on the blog where we will feature an Achiever’s thoughts on significant aspects of their lives. Our first Achiever to be featured is Avanthi! She is a junior at Boston Latin School. Avanthi enjoys math, playing the violin, and watching YouTube in her free time.

What motivates you?

I think my family definitely motivates me because they grew up in harsh environments and struggled with a lot of things. That pushes me to look past my own struggles to help society in general since my family has been through so much. They’ve also taught me a lot about being the best self you can in that moment, and not to think about the past and the future and to have no regrets. This has really pushed me to be my best self. Every interaction I’ve had with people around me pushes me to help others because I’ve found that I’m empathetic in the sense that I really want other people to be their best selves too. Teaching and supporting people in the best way I can drives me to take care of my self too.

Thank you Avanthi for sharing those amazing insights with us! Tune in next week for more Achiever wisdom.
